Minutes from Sep. 6, 2009
The meeting was called to order by Pres. Michael Meier. Eleven board members and 6 visitors were present. The minutes from June 14th meeting were reviewed and approved. The Treas. report was given with follow-up discussion regarding the expenses of the new blue shed which to date has totaled $19,433. Treas. report was approved. The future of the property was discussed. Michael and Toni are implementing paperwork which will officially name G.S.H.I. as the beneficiary of the School House property. Legal papers will transfer Michael's life insurance policy to G.S.H.I. A motion carried to give authority to the Pres. to sign the paperwork which will transfer the property. Due to a possible conflict of interest, Michael and Toni will no longer be officers. Motion carried to approve the election of Luann Lind as the interim Pres. until the Jan. meeting when formal election will be held. It was noted that the Treas. does not need to be a board member. Motion carried to elect Pam Welch as Treas. until the Jan. meeting. We discussed our bylaws in regards to board terms and elections. Further refinement will take place at the Jan. meeting. Motion carried to change the current bylaw #2 to read as follows: "The directors shall meet annually in Jan. of each year to review the activities of the previous year and to plan the coming year's activities". Motion carried to amend bylaw #4 to replace the slashes as written with commas to indicate that the three positions of Sec., Treas., and a Registered Agent may be held by separate people. After discussion about our new storage building, a motion carried to name it "The Machine Shed". Much work has been done and it is now ready to house the farm equipment that we have on hand. There was discussion on how best to finish the inside walls. Motion carried to spend up to $500 for material to cover 8 ft. high on the east wall and 8 ft. deep in the overhang for storage. This will be painted white for display. Work projects were assigned to be done at the convenience of the workers. Friends of Liberty School Gathering was set for July 10, 2010. This will be an open house with a noon potluck meal, and "Finn Power" will provide music for the day. The next meeting is scheduled for Jan. 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.
Minutes from January 17, 2010
The meeting was called to order by interim Pres. Luann Lind. Ten board members and 3 visitors were present. The minutes from the Sep. meeting and the treas. reports were both reviewed and approved. Michael Meier's life insurance has been turned over to G.S.H.I. Michael and Toni will continue to pay the premium. Motion carried to elect Luann LInd as Pres. Motion carried to appoint Pam Welch as Treas. Motion carried to allow Pam to open a new account in Tomahawk for her convenience, with herself and the Pres. being signers on the account. Pam recently audited the 2008 financial reports with no changes needed. There was much discussion regarding membership in G.S.H.I. Motion carried to require a minimum $25 per person annual membership to be included as a member. By-laws were discussed. Karen Baumgartner, Marvin Meier, and Toni Meier volunteeree to work as a committee to refine our by-laws and present a draft version at the next meeting. Motion carried to use the proceeds from our barn dance in May to pay for a laptop computer and software designed for museums for record keeping. Interior walls of The Machine Shed were discussed. Michael Meier, Marvin Meier, Luann Lind and Karen Johnson volunteered to work as a committee to make the decisions and get materials needed. New rain gutters were installed on the school house, so the old ones were used on The Machine Shed and the red storage shed. We needed to determine a systematic approach to accepting items being donated. It was suggested that 2 board members should go together to review items and decide whether or not we will accept them. Also suggested was each year having an auction to de-accession any unused items. The next meeting is scheduled for March 27, 2010. Bob Rusch has invited us to view the Rib Lake History Soc. We will meet him at 10:00 a.m. that day to do so then will proceed back to Liberty School for a potluck noon lunch followed by our meeting.
