Minutes from January 17, 2010
The meeting was called to order by interim Pres. Luann Lind. Ten board members and 3 visitors were present. The minutes from the Sep. meeting and the treas. reports were both reviewed and approved. Michael Meier's life insurance has been turned over to G.S.H.I. Michael and Toni will continue to pay the premium. Motion carried to elect Luann LInd as Pres. Motion carried to appoint Pam Welch as Treas. Motion carried to allow Pam to open a new account in Tomahawk for her convenience, with herself and the Pres. being signers on the account. Pam recently audited the 2008 financial reports with no changes needed. There was much discussion regarding membership in G.S.H.I. Motion carried to require a minimum $25 per person annual membership to be included as a member. By-laws were discussed. Karen Baumgartner, Marvin Meier, and Toni Meier volunteeree to work as a committee to refine our by-laws and present a draft version at the next meeting. Motion carried to use the proceeds from our barn dance in May to pay for a laptop computer and software designed for museums for record keeping. Interior walls of The Machine Shed were discussed. Michael Meier, Marvin Meier, Luann Lind and Karen Johnson volunteered to work as a committee to make the decisions and get materials needed. New rain gutters were installed on the school house, so the old ones were used on The Machine Shed and the red storage shed. We needed to determine a systematic approach to accepting items being donated. It was suggested that 2 board members should go together to review items and decide whether or not we will accept them. Also suggested was each year having an auction to de-accession any unused items. The next meeting is scheduled for March 27, 2010. Bob Rusch has invited us to view the Rib Lake History Soc. We will meet him at 10:00 a.m. that day to do so then will proceed back to Liberty School for a potluck noon lunch followed by our meeting.

Prior to our meeting, we met at the Bob Rusch property where he gave us a tour of the Rib Lake Historical Society, LLC. Following the tour we met back at Liberty School for a potluck lunch. The meeting was called to order by Pres. Luann Lind. Ten board members and 12 visitors were present. The minutes from the Jan. meeting and the Treas. reports were both reviewed and approved. Marvin Meier presented a draft version of bylaws which the subcommittee had developed. There was discussion regarding term limits of board members, membership dues and voting rights of members. Following the discussion, minor edits to the proposed bylaws were suggested. Motion carried to accept the proposed bylaws. Election was held for the vice president position. Gene Meier and Karen Baumgartner were nominated. Karen won the election by majority vote. For the record, board members were reminded about the e-mail vote that was held shortly after the Jan. meeting in which Toni Meier received approval to purchase a laptop computer in order to take advantage of a sale price that was being offered on the model we desired. Motion carried to approve the purchase of the laptop including a 3 yr. service package and to reimburse Toni for the full amount of the purchase. The Annual Barn Dance will be held May 30th. Committees were reviewed and assignments made. All board members were asked to help set up on Sun. the 30th at 2 p.m. During the early evening Michael Meier will remain at the Liberty School/Yesterday House site to give tours to visitors. Work projects were discussed. Signs will be made for the Machine Shed, a flag pole needs to be put up and the dinner bell needs to be moved and cemented in place. Dawn Meier will contact the professor at UWSP in order to get student help on an interpretive sign for the property. A committee was established to write a concise history of the Yesterday House which can be used for giving tours. Another committee was set up to clean and open the Yesterday House for the season and to present the kitchen area as if there were actually homemaking going on. Michael reminded everyone of the Liberty School gathering which will be held Saturday July 10. More planning will be done at our next meeting which is scheduled for June 13, 2010 beginning at 2 p.m.
